Panama trip roster revealed
JUPITER, Fla. — The Marlins will be heading out of town for a couple of Spring Training games next weekend.
On March 15-16 (Saturday and Sunday), the team will play two games against the Yankees in Panama. It also is a split-squad weekend for the organization. They have a game on Saturday against the Nationals at Roger Dean Stadium, and on Sunday they travel to Fort Myers to take on the Twins.
Nathan Eovaldi is expected to start on Sunday, and most likely Brad Hand will get the nod on Saturday.
Manager Mike Redmond, hitting coach Frank Menechino, who previously was in the Yankees organization, and bullpen coordinator Jeffrey Urgelles are the coaches from the big league staff making the trip.
Staying back in Jupiter are the rest of the staff, including third base coach Brett Butler, first base coach Perry Hill, pitching coach Chuck Hernandez, bullpen coach Reid Cornelius and bench coach Rob Leary.
Position players scheduled to head to Panama are: Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, Jake Marisnick, Joe Benson, Matt Angle, Adeiny Hechavarria, Garrett Jones, Colin Moran, Austin Nola, Ed Lucas, Derek Dietrich, Juan Diaz, Danny Black, Mark Canha, Jeff Mathis, Austin Barnes and Kyle Skipworth.
The pitchers are: Eovaldi, Hand, Arquimedes Caminero, Steve Cishek, Adam Conley, Sam Dyson, Bryan Evans, James Leverton, Greg Nappo, Edgar Olmos, A.J. Ramos, Josh Spence, Rhett Varner and Nick Wittgren.
