Saltalamacchia, Marlins face Red Sox

JUPITER, Fla. — Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be facing his former team on Thursday as the Red Sox visit Roger Dean Stadium for a 1:05 p.m. ET Grapefruit League game.

Saltalamacchia was part of Boston’s 2013 World Series championship team. The 28-year-old is striving to be part of a turnaround in Miami.

The team has a growing confidence, and there is a belief better days are ahead.

“I hope so,” Saltalamacchia said. “I know on my side, it feels like it. We’ve got to depend on each other, and not have one guy carry the team. That’s something that happened last year. A different guy stepped up every night. That’s how it’s got to be. We’ve got to play the game right. We’ve got to play it hard, base running, everything.”

Nathan Eovaldi will start for Miami. Boston is going with Allen Webster.
