MIAMI — The Marlins are opening a four-game series with the Cubs on Thursday at Marlins Park.

On Wednesday, the series was promoted a bit in Greensboro, N.C., of all places.

Miami’s Class A Greensboro affiliate celebrated Jack McKeon bobblehead night.

McKeon, the Marlins’ former manager who remains a special assistant with the organization, was at Greensboro to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Adding some levity to the evening, a Steve Bartman impersonator was part of the festivities.

The Greensboro team Tweeted out a picture of McKeon with the Bartman look-a-like, who was wearing a Cubs hat.

“He looked pretty good,” McKeon said of the Bartman double. “They had him with glasses and the Cubs’ cap. He did a pretty good imitation of him. It was a promotion. The Marlins are playing the Cubs.”

During his Minor League playing days, McKeon previously played for Greensboro, when it was a Red Sox affiliate.

“I played in Greensboro back in 1955. They had me with the old Red Sox uniform.”

Yes, the bobblehead came complete with a trademark McKeon cigar.
