Dobbs gets start at first base in finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Greg Dobbs is getting the start at first base for the Marlins on Thursday with Casey Kotchman out with a left hamstring strain.

Kotchman aggravated his hamstring in the fifth inning in Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to the Nationals.

The Marlins are looking to avoid being swept in their first series.

First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. ET at Nationals Park.

For the first time in their history, the Marlins have been shutout in their first two games. Looking to spark some offense, Placido Polanco has moved from the cleanup spot to second, behind Juan Pierre.

Dobbs is batting cleanup.

Pitching and defense has been fine but the offense is slow off the ground, when our lineup starts hitting and scoring consistently which I think we eventually will, we will be a competitive ball club.
