Buehrle vs. Halladay, a perfect pairing
MIAMI — Wednesday wasn’t the first time Mark Buehrle was matched against another starter who had previously posted a perfect game.
It was actually Buehrle’s second. On April 11, 2011, the left-hander faced Dallas Braden of the A’s.
Still, it’s pretty rare. Just 12 times, starters with the distinction of throwing perfect games squared off.
Buehrle closed out the series on Wednesday, getting the nod against Roy Halladay of the Phillies.
In 2010, Halladay threw a perfect game against the Marlins at Sun Life Stadium.
