Reyes’ hitting streak on line Thursday

ATLANTA — After beating the Braves, 4-2, on Wednesday night, the Marlins have a chance to split their four-game series with the Braves at Turner Field on Thursday.

Jose Reyes is riding a 19-game hitting streak, one shy of his career high.

Gorkys Hernandez will be making his first start since joining the club. Hernandez, a fleet-footed outfielder, was acquired from the Pirates for Gaby Sanchez on Tuesday.

Hernandez was a defensive replacement on Wednesday night, striking out in his only at-bat.

Miami outfielder Justin Ruggiano is dealing with back spasms, and he isn’t in the lineup.

Nathan Eovaldi is making his second start since being obtained by the Marlins as part of the Hanley Ramirez trade with the Dodgers.

Miami also announced Brad Hand will be called up from Triple-A New Orleans to start Game 1 of Friday’s doubleheader at Washington. Josh Johnson will start in Game 2.
