Dunn recalled from Triple-A New Orleans
Because they went to their bullpen early on Wednesday night, the Marlins were in need of relief help on Thursday.
Before facing the Red Sox in their series finale at Fenway Park, the Marlins recalled lefty Mike Dunn from Triple-A New Orleans. In a corresponding move, right-hander Chris Hatcher was optioned to New Orleans.
Dunn last threw for New Orleans on June 15. The left-hander has appeared in 12 games for the Zephyrs this season, posting a 1-1 record witha 4.58 ERA. He’s struck out 24 and walked seven in 17 2/3 innings at Triple-A.
In 12 appearances with the Marlins, Dunn’s has had his struggles, giving up 11 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings (9.58 ERA). He’s struck out 17 and walked 10.
Hatcher on Wednesday pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief of Ricky Nolasco in the Marlins’ 15-5 loss at Boston. The right-hander gave up four runs, including a grand slam to David Ortiz.
Hatcher’s first appearance with the Marlins this year came last Sunday at Tampa Bay, when he threw a perfect inning with a strikeout.
