Buehrle’s completes first game since 2010
SAN DIEGO — Mark Buehrle’s complete game on Saturday was his first since 2010.
From the Marlins’ standpoint, complete games have been rare. Remember, the team set a Major League mark of going 301 straight games between complete games. That drought ended on Aug. 19, 2008 when Ricky Nolasco went the distance on a two-hitter at San Francisco.
Buehrle’s nine-inning effort at San Diego on Saturday was Miami’s first complete game of the season. For the veteran, it was his first since Oct. 2, 2010, in a six-inning finish against the Indians.
The last time Buehrle tossed a nine-inning complete game came on July 23, 2010 at Oakland.
In Buehrle’s career, he has 28 complete games. His season most is five with the White Sox in 2002.
