Marlins Park up to standards
MIAMI — The home run feature at Marlins Park is not expected to be an issue.
Marlins president David Samson said the “batter’s eye” behind the center field wall meets MLB standards. And the colorful home run feature also is not considered a distraction.
Samson spoke with reporters before Tuesday’s exhibition against the University of Miami at Marlins Park.
There were some concerns that the home run structure would distract left-handed hitters.
“We have MLB rules and guidelines we have to follow,” Samson said. “The batter’s eye is bigger than what’s required.”
To make it easier to pick up the ball at the plate, the wall behind center field, the batter’s eye, was painted black on Tuesday morning.
