Dominguez out a few days
MIAMI — Marlins third base prospect Matt Dominguez took a bad-hop, grounder off the side of his face on Tuesday afternoon.
Manager Ozzie Guillen initially feared the 22-year-old was seriously injuried in the afternoon game against the Tigers at Roger Dean Stadium. But early in the evening, Guillen was encouraged that Dominguez is going to be fine.
The team hopes Dominguez only misses a few games. Initially, he was scheduled to play at Marlins Park on Wednesday night against Florida International University.
“When I was there, I thought everything in his face was broken,” Guillen said shortly before the Marlins faced the University of Miami at Marlins Park. “Thank God, it didn’t happen. I was thought it was uglier. He got lucky.”
The ball struck just under Dominguez’s right eye.
