Hanley third all-time in hits
MIAMI — When Hanley Ramirez singled in the fifth inning on Wednesday night, it marked a milestone for the 27-year-old shortstop.
The hit was the 966th of Ramirez’s career, with them all coming as a Marlin. The three-time All-Star moved past Mike Lowell (965) and into sole possession of third place in franchise history.
Ramirez has a ways to go to catch the Marlins’ all-time hit leader, Luis Castillo, who collected 1,273 from 1996-2005.
Barring injury, Ramirez will take over second place on the team’s hit list later this season. Jeff Conine currently ranks second with 1,005 hits.

Not really “a ways” to go since he’ll set the mark next season.
