Murphy on DL, Petersen called up
ST. LOUIS — The Marlins placed infielder Donnie Murphy on the 15-day disabled list on Monday, and recalled outfielder Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans.
Murphy, who opened the season as the starting third baseman, is on the DL, retroactive to April 30, with right wrist inflammation. Murphy dislocated the same wrist last September, and he underwent surgery. Also this season he has dealt with a bone bruise to his left knee.
Petersen will be available for the four-game series at St. Louis beginning on Monday.
A left-handed hitter, Petersen is batting .342 with three homers, seven doubles and 10 RBIs at Triple-A New Orleans.
Petersen was not in New Orleans’ lineup on Sunday in their 10-7 win over Oklahoma City.
