Murphy has bone bruise
PHILADELPHIA — An X-ray taken on Sunday revealed Marlins third baseman Donnie Murphy has a bone bruise on his left knee.
While Murphy is listed as day to day, he likely won’t be ready to start on Tuesday in the series opener with the
Pirates.
“There is inflammation, it’s not broken,” Murphy said. “The X-ray came back negative.”
Emilio Bonifacio or Wes Helms are likely candidates to start on Tuesday against the Pirates, who are starting lefty Paul Maholm.
