Stanton clears building in BP
Every day Mike Stanton takes batting practice is a new adventure. Friday was no different, as the Marlins young slugger reached new heights.
A few days ago, Stanton dazzled on the back fields at Roger Dean Stadium, hitting the roof of a condo located across the street from left field.
On Friday, the team took batting practice inside Roger Dean Stadium. Beyond the left field wall is the Marlins’ building, which is complete with offices on the second floor, and the club house on the first floor.
Stanton achieved something that no one in attendance had seen before — he completely cleared the building. Making the shot more impressive is he took a BP pitch over the roof in left-center, just to the left of a sign on the wall advertising Duffy’s Sports Grill.
In a round before his blast over the building, Stanton hit back-to-back drives that hit the black screen beyond the center field wall. His bid for three straight to dead center came up short when his third shot actually struck the center field wall at the 400-foot marker.
