Luna makes first start

For the first since May 21, 2008, Hector Luna is in a big league game. The veteran will start at third base for the Marlins in their series opener with the Phillies on Tuesday at Sun Life Stadium.

After the Marlins traded Jorge Cantu to the Rangers last Thursday, Luna had his contract selected from Triple-A New Orleans. He was in uniform for the weekend series at San Diego, but he didn’t play.

Wes Helms will handle a majority of the starts at third base, but manager Edwin Rodriguez said Luna will make a start or two a week, either at third or first base.

Left-hander Sean West is making his first start of the season on Tuesday. The Marlins officially recalled West to face the Phillies. To make room for the lefty, right-hander Jorge Sosa was designated for assignment.

Roy Halladay is pitching for the Phillies.

Lineup for Tuesday: Hanley Ramirez (SS), Logan Morrison (LF), Gaby Sanchez (1B), Dan Uggla (2B), Cody Ross (CF), Mike Stanton (RF), Ronny Paulino (C), Hector Luna (3B), Sean West (P).
