Amezaga cleared to run
Alfredo Amezaga has been cleared to start his running program.
The versatile veteran, who was not tendered an offer by the Marlins in December, is slated to work out for teams next week. After that, he will start entertaining offers.
The Marlins remain interested in Amezaga, but being a free agent, he is exploring all his possibilities.
Amezaga is recovering from microfracture surgery to his left knee. The bone bruise forced him to miss almost all of 2009.
Amezaga is one of the top super utility players in the league. A natural middle infielder, he’s also a solid defensive outfielder. In his tenure with the Marlins, he’s played every position except pitcher and catcher.
