Winter Ball for Boni
After the season, Emilio Bonifacio will take some time off and then get ready to get back on the field in his native country.
Bonifacio has consulted with the Marlins, and he will again play Winter League Ball in the Dominican Republic. He says he will begin playing in December.
“I talked to the Marlins, and everything is good,” Bonifacio said.
After opening the season as Florida’s regular third baseman, the speedster has been coming off the bench since Nick Johnson was acquired from the Nationals on July 31.
A natural second baseman, Bonifacio says he expects to play several different positions while playing for Licey. A year ago, he was used mostly in the outfield.
“I will work on everything, defense, second base, bunting,” he said. “I need to keep playing.”
