The Marlins’ “Super Saturday” giveaway was Chris Coghlan t-shirts.
As a show of support for Coghlan, and looking to enhance his Rookie of the Year chances, the Marlins players wore the t-shirts during their stretch session on Saturday afternoon.
Promoted from Triple-A New Orleans in May, Coghlan has blossomed as the Marlins regular left fielder. He’s building a strong case for the N.L. Rookie of the Year honor. He leads all qualifying rookie candidates with a .311 batting average. He also tops rookies in hits (146), multi-hit games (45), total bases (210), runs (75) and on-base percentage (.383).
