I know this has nothing to do with this aricle, but I saw an article on the future of Dan Uggla and there was a lot of negative commentary on him and the Marlins and I wanted to vent really bad. When I did, I realized how frustrated in general I was that my thoughts and opinions couldnt be heard louder-just tell me if my reply was in any way incorrect-
“I dont EVER want to hear the marlins called a “losing team”…They have already won 2 world series. 2. More than the Cubs have had over the last 100 years…And 8 million isnt overpaying a guy who hasnt hit less than 25 homers over the last 4 years-its just that the Marlins dont have that much money…Last year they had the lowest payroll in the majors-there were probably minor league teams with higher salaries than their team and the Fish still finished 7 games over .500 in a division with the Phillies, Mets, and Braves. Theyre 10 games over .500 right now!! Yeah, so Uggla doesnt hit for a high average-neither does Ryan Howard. And yeah Uggla is short of a gold glove defender, but at least he is giving his 100% day in and day out-thats more than you will get from a majority of other guys making 8 mill a year…And dont forget that he is striking out less, walking more, and will always net around 100 RBIs and 100 runs-give the man some credit and tip your hat to the Marlins-in 2003, from the coverage of it all, they didnt win the world series, the Yankees lost it…thats bull [profane]…pay these guys some respect will ya? When was the last time you saw these guys on Sunday night baseball or ESPN in general? Come on!! I love Bonifacio and Coghlan too by the way and would still be happy if they are around if Uggla goes, but all of this is just so typical-no love for the little guys. And maybe they have done some firesaling in the past, but look at how smart the front office is-they turn around Beckett for Hanley!! I love this team and maybe in another life I would get a call to take a dream job doing anything for the organization!!! Go FISH!!!!”

I just feel like there is no love for my team here-I live in Minnesota and work at a hotel and whenever anybody mentions they are from Florida, I ask if they are a Marlins fan? I would say 60-70 percent of the time, people look at me like I’m speaking French. They dont even know there is a baseball team called the Florida Marlins and they LIVE IN FLORIDA!!!! A majority of the rest of the people who have heard of the marlins dont care about them. Whats the matter with people down there? How are there SO MANY empty seats day in and day out? They can see Hanley, Uggla, Coghlan, Maybin, Ross, Cantu, Boni, and some real exciting young pitchers-JJ, Ricky, West, Vostad, Lindy, Nunez, the list goes on and on and on…What about in 2003? Beckett, Burnett, Pudge, Miggy, the D-Train, J.P., D Lee, etc. etc….Is this club doing anything to fire people up to go to games? Is there something wrong with the people in Florida? I am born and raised Minnesotan but my allegiance is with the fish and will be till the day I die. It is a true shame that this exciting, young, fun, contending team isn’t respected the way that they should be. Even when you write your articles, you get maybe a half dozen comments-theres no passion from the fans. No fire. You look at the Mets and Phillies articles that come out on their sites each day and there are 50 or 60 comments in the 1st hour or 2…why cant it be this way for our Marlins?

Hanley Ramirez. One of the most, if not THE MOST, talented players in baseball today is a Marlin. This alone should sell 15,000 to 20,000 tickets each night right there. The organization simply is not doing enough if you have a talent like this and you aren’t bringing in the fans. A-Rod singlehandedly brought people to the park in Texas when he was a Ranger-theres no reason Hanley cannot do the same!! And that is just for Hanley. If the Twins had a phenom pitcher like JJ, I would be at the crappy metrodome every 5 days to watch him and so would everyone else, so the fact that the Marlins dont have a nice park right now is NO EXCUSE!!! With the new ballpark opening, I expect to see more fans. There NEEDS to be more fans-its just not right and it is simply unfair that such a good team gets so little love. This is the least of what I have to say…
