Hanley still day-to-day

The hope on Thursday afternoon was to have Hanley Ramirez do some light running and agility drills on the field. Weather changed those plans.

The Marlins All-Star shortstop exited Tuesday’s game against the Braves in the fifth inning due to a tight left hamstring. Ramirez was out of the lineup on Wednesday and Thursday.

He said on Thursday that he was going to test the hamstring, and that he hoped to take some swings in the batting cage. Even if the hamstring prevents him from playing the field, Ramirez could be a pinch-hit option.

Having him in that capacity remains a questionmark due to the weather.

Batting practice on the field was called off due to rain.

As for the shouting incident between Ramirez and second baseman Dan Uggla on Wednesday afternoon, that matter has been dealt with internally. Several players say the issue has been resolved.

The shouting incident surfaced in front of the media before Wednesday’s game. Ramirez noted that some teammates were upset that he took himself out of the lineup during a crucial series.

Ramirez didn’t want to address the matter with reporters on Thursday.

“We’re fine,” Manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “Hey, we’ve all had it. We’ve all been there. Whether it’s with our family members, co-workers. It happens in every walk of life, in every sport. It’s really no big deal.”
