De Aza recalled from Triple-A

Alejandro De Aza was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, adding depth to the Marlins outfield.

After Monday’s win over the Brewers, the Marlins announced that they were optioning right-hander Cristhian Martinez to Double-A Jacksonville. Catcher Brett Hayes was optioned back to New Orleans.

Along with bringing up De Aza, the Marlins officially reinstated Anibal Sanchez from the 15-day disabled list.

Sanchez will be Florida’s starting pitcher on Tuesday.

De Aza will be making his second appearance this season for Florida.

In 41 games with the Zephyrs, the left-handed hitting De Aza was hitting .278. De Aza appeared in three games with the Marlins, going 3-for-9.

He plays all three outfield spots.

Seems like the train to and from LandShark Stadium keeps moving. Thanks for all your hard work Joe…it is much appreciated, especially here in Idaho!

Alejandro De Aza back with the big league club where he belongs. Now, all we need to do is bring back Cameron Maybin as well so they can both platoon in CF as should be the case. And Amezaga can stay down in the minors where he belongs or away or not on the team as should be the case.

Until Amezaga returns, the Marlins could really use De Aza. Though he doens’t have the strong defense that Carroll does, he is a much better hitter and has good speed. Hopefully De Aza will get a chance to play even when Amezaga returns, but I am just happy to see him back up here, even if it’s only temporary. I’m rooting for you Alejandro!
