Helms steals second

Wes Helms stole second base in the third inning on Wednesday.

This is headline material for the simple fact that it was the third MLB steal of the 33-year-old’s career. It also was his first steal since April 12, 2002 when he was with the Braves. He swiped it that day, ironically, against the Marlins.

Helms has never stolen as many as two bases in a season. In 2001 and 2002, he had one stolen base in each season, respectively.

Helms swiped second with Burke Badenhop attempting a bunt. He actually slid in safely after Badenhop struck out looking with the count full against Brett Myers.

I Think Wes should get to play everyday I mean he is very clutch, and we need that plus he’s got power!

You may be right in some of the things you say about Bonifacio, but if were a real fan, you would know that Helms is not an everyday player. I love Wes, but he is a role player, nothing more. Should they platoon the two? I don’t know what the answer to that is, but I will say this:
After missing that squeeze sign yesterday, Bonifacio deserves a seat on the bench for a few games. THAT was inexcuasble
