Cantu plunked by pitch

Some encouraging news on Jorge Cantu. An X-ray on his left hand came back negative.

Cantu absorbed being struck on the back of his hand by a Daniel Cabrera fastball in the fifth inning.

Shaken, Cantu was tended to by Marlins trainer Sean Cunningham. He remained in the game, and scored from first on Dan Uggla’s three-run double. In the top of the sixth inning, from his first base position, Cantu caught a hard line drive off the bat of Adam Dunn.

The Marlins took Cantu out of the game in the top of the seventh inning. The team is off on Thursday, and he will have a full day to rest his hand.
