Ronny Paulino wasn’t the only Marlins catcher named Paulino in uniform on Friday night.
With the team looking for extra players to provide depth in the final two spring games, Minor League catcher Carlos Paulino also was with the big league club.
The 19-year-old Paulino was in the Gulf Coast League last year.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez referred to the 6-foot, 167-pounder from the Dominican Republic as “Baby Paulino.”
The Marlins recently added veteran Ronny Paulino to be John Baker’s backup.
As an organization, the Marlins are high on Carlos Paulino.
