Bonifacio exits

Emilio Bonifacio, who has won the starting third base job, left the game on Wednesday after he struck out in the fourth inning.

Bonifacio was hit in the hand by a pitch while squaring to bunt from the left side. It was ruled a foul ball. He was stunned for a few seconds, walking it off.

Bonifacio shook it off, then struck out swinging.

The switch-hitting third baseman was struck by the pitch on his left middle finger. After the game, he said he was fine, and he could play on Thursday, if the Marlins decide to use him.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Andy Gonzalez was playing third. Gonzalez made a strong play at third base, robbing Adam Jones of a hit in the fifth inning. Gonzalez, who played for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, may wind up being the backup middle infielder on Opening Day.
