Rabelo, Hayes optioned
The Marlins worked into the early morning hours to solidify their catching situation.
Early Saturday morning, they obtained Ronny Paulino from the Giants for pitching prospect Hector Correra. Late Friday, Paulino was dealt from the Phillies to San Francisco.
About seven hours later, the Marlins announced that catchers Mike Rabelo and Brett Hayes have been optioned to Triple-A New Orleans.
Paulino will serve as John Baker’s backup.

I really really like this, neither rabelo or hayes are up-to-par with paulino. And hopefully he can bring back some of the stats he had with Pittsburgh. He hit 278 with pittsburgh in three years. I have no problem with my backup catcher hitting 278.
That seems to be the plan. Have an insurance policy should Baker go down. Now there is someone with big league time. Playing time tends to work itself out. I think in Miami, with the extreme weather, it is tough to demand your starting catcher go 120 plus games. Unless it is someone like Pudge in 2003, that kind of player is hard to find.
