Commission meeting today
Today is the day in the Marlins stadium quest.
Beginning at 1 p.m. ET, Miami-Dade County commissioners will vote on the 37,000-seat retractable-roof ballpark on the Orange Bowl grounds in Miami.
Needed to pass are nine of 13 votes. Shortly before 1 p.m., union carpenters were voicing their support outside of the commission building.
The vote is expected this evening.

If, if, if, if, if, if, if, this vote FINALLY passes, is there really nothing other than an ‘act of God’ as Samson said that will delay the stadium from opening? I thought I heard at the Miami meeting that Norman Braman could file an appeal and throw another monkey wrench into this whole thing. Is there any credence to that, or will this vote really, finally, at long last seal the deal? Thanks
An appeal, of course, is possible. If passed, it is full speed ahead to get it built. The Braman lawsuit was so thoroughly defeated, and there is confidence that legally, an appeal won’t slow anything down.
