Lindstrom has sore shoulder

Closer Matt Lindstrom has a sore right shoulder, and he will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Most likely, he is done pitching for Team USA. The bigger concern now is the regular season.

In the eighth inning on Sunday against the Netherlands, he was lifted with two outs because of the shoulder discomfort.

Lindstrom began stretching his right side during a sequence with Sharnol Adriana, who lifted a sacrifice fly to right field. Lindstrom gave up a homer to Bryan Engelhardt in the inning, and he nearly caused a bench-clearing incident when his fastball to Vince Rooi sailed to the screen.

Lindstrom has experienced back tightness the past few years. But this time it is his shoulder.

hilarious stuff as lindstrom nailed that batter, and subsequently got the stare down.

Wow…I sure hope that the injury isn’t serious at all. I watched most of the game but missed that inning.
If (and I hope not) Lindstrom is out for an extended period of time, who could close right now? Maybe Proctor if he heals up since Owens is serving his suspension? This could leave a GAPING hole in the pen…

Keep us updated on Lindstrom injury Joe. Hopefully is nothing serious.

An MRI on Monday. Lindstrom has dealt with back stiffness in the past. The shoulder, of course, is a concern. What’s disturbing is Lindstrom felt tight coming to the mound. He told catcher Chris Iannetta before he threw a pitch, but neither notified the dugout. So nothing really good came out of this outing. Lindstrom got hurt, and he nearly caused an incident by throwing behind Rooi. It all could have been avoided if Team USA manager Davey Johnson knew there was a problem with the shoulder.
